The Career, Technology and Training Center for the Blind & Visually Impaired is inviting you to attend our upcoming annual White Cane Awareness Day event on October 15th at 408 White Street in Daytona Beach. The time for the event will be 10am-1pm. White Cane Awareness Day is an annual event to educate motorists in our community about the White Cane Pedestrian Law. By joint resolution on October 1964, the Congress authorized October 15 of each year as “White Cane Safety Day,” which is recognized today as “Blind Americans Equality Day,” to honor the contributions of blind and low-vision Americans.

In addition to this year’s White Cane Awareness Day, the Division of Blind Services will also be celebrating our 85^th anniversary during the same event. We will be having free hors d’oeuvres (finger foods) and refreshments at our campus Dining Hall for all guests, and an open house of the campus during the event. The Daytona Beach Police Department has been nice enough to yet again serve our community to assist in the annual ceremonial pedestrian street-crossing. More information, including promotional flyers and social media posts will be coming soon from our State Office in Tallahassee promoting the event.
