FDOT, Partners Celebrate Third Annual Mobility Week
~ Department debuts interactive Mobility Week Virtual Conference Center ~
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – From October 30 to November 6, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and partners from across the state are celebrating the third annual Mobility Week to encourage Floridians to make smart, efficient, and safe transportation choices. Throughout Mobility Week, FDOT and partners, including cities, counties, metropolitan/transportation planning organizations, transit agencies, regional organizations, employers and transportation agencies, will host events to promote transportation options, highlight transportation achievements, and roll out new initiatives or policies.
“The department is dedicated to providing an innovative transportation system that fits the needs and lifestyles of Florida’s residents and visitors,” said Florida Department of Transportation Secretary Kevin J. Thibault, P.E. “We are proud to partner with organizations throughout the state during Mobility Week to promote transportation mode choices and to work toward adopting policies that promote sustainable mobility in order to ensure a safe, efficient transportation system.”
Since the introduction of Mobility Week, FDOT has hosted more than 300 events across each of FDOT’s seven districts and in 53 counties to share information on travel choices available to the public including transit, walking, bicycling, driving safely and ridesharing.
This year, the department has debuted the Mobility Week Virtual Conference Center to increase availability to more people throughout the state. By visiting the Mobility Week Virtual Conference Center, Floridians can learn about innovative programs and projects by exploring a series of virtual rooms representing different regions. Virtual visitors will learn about transit agencies, local transportation planning efforts, as well as be able to register for live events and workshops.
