Project Update

Oakridge Boulevard (State Road (S.R.) 430) Between Halifax Avenue and North Atlantic Avenue (S.R. A1A)
Volusia County
Financial Project Identification (FPID) No.: 441139-1

Dear Government Partner:

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has been refining plans for proposed improvements along Oakridge Boulevard (S.R. 430) from Halifax Avenue to North Atlantic Avenue (S.R. A1A). In lieu of a second public meeting, FDOT has compiled a project update to inform the community of current developments in the design plans and project schedule. The attached update is also being mailed to property owners, residents, businesses and other interested persons in the project corridor.

The FDOT proposed improvements along Oakridge Boulevard include resurfacing the roadway, reducing the number of lanes from three to two, and providing a 7-foot-wide buffered bicycle lane. In response to comments received at the project informational open house held in August 2019, FDOT has revised the design where possible for the bicycle lane and landscaping.

The status of the private developer’s permit for a driveway at the parking garage located on the northwest corner of Oakridge Boulevard and North Atlantic Avenue is still under review. At this time, it is unknown when a final decision will be made. That permit request is separate from FDOT’s planned improvements on this corridor. Design on the FDOT improvement project is proceeding on schedule and expected to be complete in summer 2020. Construction is anticipated to start in early 2021.
