FLORIDA METROPOLITAN PLANNING ORGANIZATION ADVISORY COUNCIL (MPOAC)
STAFF DIRECTORS’ ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Daytona Beach FL: The River to Sea TPO is proud to announce that on January 30, 2020, Lois Bollenback, River to Sea TPO Executive Director, was elected by her peers to serve as the Chair of the Florida MPOAC Staff Directors’ Advisory Committee. The MPOAC is a statewide transportation planning and policy organization that augments the role of individual MPOs in the cooperative transportation planning process. The organization is comprised of 27-member MPOs throughout the state, serving as a forum to speak with a unified voice on transportation issues of state and national interest. The MPOAC actively participates in the activities of the national Association of MPOs (AMPO) and the National Association of Regional Councils (NARC) in Washington DC and works with other stakeholder groups to help shape state and national policy regarding metropolitan transportation issues. The staff directors are very engaged in actively promoting local solutions to our transportation concerns.
“Under Ms. Bollenback’s leadership, the committee will be undertaking several new initiatives to increase the role and relevancy of TPOs in Florida as well as strengthening our partnership with Florida DOT and our federal transportation agencies” said Carl Mikyska, MPOAC Executive Director. “We look forward to the continued success of MPOAC under Ms. Bollenback’s leadership.”
Ms. Bollenback has been involved in transportation planning and transit management in the Volusia County area for 20 years, working in both the public and private sector. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a Master’s Degree in Applied Economics from the University of Central Florida. Prior to moving to Volusia County, Ms. Bollenback served in the US Air Force and worked at Kennedy Space Center. In the local area, she’s worked as a transportation planner for the River to Sea TPO and for Ghyabi & Associates, a local planning and engineering firm. She went on to work for McDonald Transit Associates, serving as the Assistant General Manager and General Manager for Votran. Ms. Bollenback returned to work for the TPO in 2009 and is now serving as the organization’s Executive Director.
About the River to Sea TPO: The River to Sea TPO is the duly designated and constituted body responsible for carrying out the urban transportation planning and programming process for designated Metropolitan Planning Area (MPA). The TPO’s metropolitan planning area includes all of Volusia County and the developed areas of eastern Flagler County, including Beverly Beach and Flagler Beach, as well as portions of the cities of Palm Coast and Bunnell.
