Drivers along westbound Saxon Boulevard in Deltona will see activity beginning as early as Monday, Feb. 4 near Interstate 4 (I-4) as crews work to address a depression that has formed deep underground near the roadway. The right lane of westbound Saxon Boulevard, near the I-4 overpass, remains closed for safety. The left lane remains open.
The solution calls for using grout—a concrete mix—and injecting it deep underground to compact and strengthen soils below the depression. The right lane will remain closed until the work is complete; the estimate is 10 days. In this area, Saxon Boulevard is a local road. However, the area is adjacent to the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) work zone for an exit ramp construction project. The contractor team will transition to do work at the depression site.
FDOT reminds drivers to use caution while driving through construction zones and to stay alert to any traffic pattern changes.
