Financial Project Identification (FPID)Numbers: 441414-1; 438968-2
Dear Elected Leader,
On behalf of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), I invite you to a public hearing regarding plans to improve safety along Taylor Road (S.R. 15A) from west of South Woodland Boulevard to west of South Adelle Avenue in Volusia County.
Planned safety improvements involve installing directional medians. This will restrict left turns out of some local roads and/or driveways onto Taylor Road (S.R. 15A). Modifications like this improve safety in the area by reducing the number of conflict points for drivers. Locations for U-turns will be enhanced on Taylor Road between South Woodland Boulevard and South Adelle Avenue. Work also includes adding a traffic signal at South Clara Avenue, additional pedestrian improvements, and resurfacing Taylor Road within the project limits.
Improvements also involve operational and safety enhancements to the Taylor Road and South Woodland Boulevard intersection for vehicular and pedestrian traffic, which include raised medians for pedestrians and increased efficiency for right turn traffic from eastbound Taylor Road to southbound South Woodland Boulevard.
The hearing will be held Thursday, May 9, 2019, at the Wayne G. Sanborn Activity and Event Center at 815 S. Alabama Ave., DeLand, FL, 32724. It begins with an open house at 5:30 p.m., where participants may review project documents and discuss the project with staff. There will be a brief presentation at 6 p.m., after which, participants may provide comments to all present. Before the scheduled meeting, the presentation video will be made available online at: http://www.cflroads.com/project/4414141/SR_15A_15_600_to_SR-15_from_US_17_92_to_Adelle_Ave.
Participants may also provide public comment directly to a court reporter at any time during the meeting. Written comments can be submitted at this hearing or by mail to; Gene Varano, FDOT Project Manager, 719 South Woodland Boulevard, DeLand, FL 32720 no later than May 20, 2019. All comments, written and oral, will become part of the project’s public record.
