Upcoming Open House for Spring Garden Avenue at New York Avenue
Participation Opportunities In-Person and Online
VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is working to relieve congestion at the intersection of Spring Garden Avenue (State Road (S.R.) 15A) and New York Avenue (S.R. 44) in DeLand. The community is invited to learn more about the plans at a project open house on Tuesday, February 11, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The project proposes to accommodate the high volume of traffic turning onto westbound New York Avenue by adding a southbound right turn lane on Spring Garden Avenue. This will allow traffic turning right or left onto New York Avenue, as well as those continuing south on Spring Garden Avenue, to have their own lane at the intersection. The project will require the purchase of some additional right of way. Construction is expected to begin in fall 2027.
The in-person open house will be held at Chisholm Community Center, 520 S. Clara Ave., DeLand, FL 32720. Attendees will be able to view a looping presentation and project displays, speak with project team members, and submit comments or questions.
To provide additional flexibility for stakeholders, the FDOT is also offering online opportunities to get involved:
- Join an online webinar at 5:30 p.m. to watch a project presentation and submit written questions or comments using the webinar questions box. To attend using this option, register at https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/682164945503875679. Please make sure to provide adequate time to log in to view the presentation in its entirety.
- Visit the project website at your convenience at www.cflroads.com/project/440787-1. Visitors to the page may watch the project presentation, view project exhibits, and submit comments and questions directly to the project manager. Project materials will be available beginning February 11 and will be the same as what will be shared at the in-person open house. While the information will remain on the website throughout the project, please provide comments or questions by February 21 to have the comments included in the open house record.
