The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has changed the date and location of the public hearing regarding design plans for corridor improvements on International Speedway Boulevard (U.S. 92) from the Halifax River Bridge to S.R. A1A in Volusia County.  The hearing will now take place on Tuesday, March 31, 2020, at the Midtown Cultural and Educational Center Gymnasium located at 925 George W. Engram Boulevard, Daytona Beach, FL 32114. The public hearing was originally scheduled on Thursday, January 30, 2020, at the Schnebly Recreation Center.

The proposed improvements include construction of a roundabout to replace the existing signal at the intersection of International Speedway Boulevard and S.R. A1A, as well as widening International Speedway Boulevard to provide wider travel lanes and a raised median. Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant sidewalks and curb ramps will be incorporated throughout the corridor. Additionally, signals will be reconstructed at Halifax Avenue, Peninsula Drive (S.R. 441) and Grandview Avenue. This design project is scheduled for completion in late 2020. Right of way acquisition is currently funded in Fiscal Year (FY) 2021, and construction is currently funded in FY 2023.

It is being held to present information and obtain public input regarding the proposed design. It begins with an open house at 5:30 p.m., where participants may review project information and discuss the project with staff. There is a brief presentation at 6 p.m., after which participants may provide comments to all present.
Participants may provide public comments directly to a court reporter at any time during the hearing. Written comments can be submitted at this hearing, by mail to Kathleen Enot, FDOT Project Manager, 719 South Woodland Blvd., MS 542, Deland, FL 32720, or by e-mail to kathleen.enot@dot.state.fl.us no later than Monday, April 10, 2020. All comments, written and oral, will become part of the project’s public record.
