COMMUNITY ADVOCATE RECEIVES STATEWIDE RECOGNITION
FROM THE
COMMISSION FOR THE TRANSPORTATION DISADVANTAGED (CTD)
On December 14, 2016, Mr. Doug Hall was presented with the “Volunteer of the Year” Award at the Florida Commission for the Transportation Disadvantaged (CTD) Annual Conference in Jacksonville, Florida.
Mr. Hall is a River to Sea Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) Transportation Disadvantaged Local Coordinating Board (TDLCB) member, co-founder and chairman for the Daytona Beach Mayors Alliance of Persons with Disabilities, Vice President for the Florida Council of the Blind, Vice President for the Halifax Council of the Blind, member of the River to Sea TPO’s Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) and the event organizer of Volusia County’s annual White Cane Awareness Day for the past 20 years.
Mr. Hall has been an advocate and volunteer for transportation disadvantaged groups and the blind community for over 20 years. He has helped develop a coalition for statewide transportation services where organizations such as the Blinded Veterans, the National Federation of the Blind, the Statewide Independent Living Council, the Lighthouse for the Blind and others work on creating and improving public transportation options. Mr. Hall’s dedication in promoting safety and accessibility for the blind community has influenced the local community and raised awareness for both individuals and planning agencies
In addition, Votran won the “Safety Award of the Year” and Ms. Arleen Thompson, Votran, received the “Scheduler Dispatcher of the Year” award.
